Overview

The Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority was formed by City Charter in 1999 as the governing body for the oversight of Nashville General Hospital at Meharry and Bordeaux Long -Term Care. In 2004, the City of Nashville transferred the JB Knowles Home Assisted Living Facility and Adult Day Care under Hospital Authority management to complete the continuum of care for the residents of Nashville & Davidson County.

  • Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, founded in 1890, is a 150 bed licensed hospital which serves as the primary teaching hospital of Meharry Medical College as well as a teaching site for Vanderbilt University.
  • Bordeaux Long -Term Care is a 419 bed long term care facility providing all levels of skill care as well as a 60 bed LTAC managed by Kindred Healthcare.
  • Knowles Assisted Living and Adult Day Service proves assisted living for approximately 100 residents as well as adult day care for over 40 seniors.

The Hospital Authority is a publicly supported integrated health care delivery system providing seamless care across the continuum of life.
